Most of the time during multiplayer, the unit cap is not a hindrance to strategies and only serves to limit the amount of rendering and calculation your computer needs to perform. When you reach the cap, you will hear an alert "Unit Cap reached" and the count/cap text will become red to let you know that all construction has been paused for new units and buildings. Every building and land/air/naval/experimental unit in your army apart from your ACU and the Illuminate ACU's Rogue Nanites contributes towards this count. New Supreme Commander Gameplay Experience players now have the ability to research new technologies and units and deploy them instantly on the battlefield, allowing them to upgrade a base-level tank to a high-powered, multi-barreled, AA-sporting monster by the end of a given game. In multiplayer the Unit Cap is 200 for the Xbox version and 500 or 1000 for PC. In the campaign the Unit Cap is 250/300 (Xbox 360/PC) except during the first two UEF missions, where the cap starts at 150 and is increased later in the mission to 250, and the last UEF mission where the cap is 200 during the first section of the mission. The Unit Cap is a limit on how many units/buildings you can field at any given time.
